Count of Monte Cristo

I have the worst habit of going outside to take outfit photos in the worst weather. Today is rainy and windy and I was running the risk of ruining this beautiful felt hat I just found with a fluffy feather on top, but I was so excited to show off my new high waisted skinny jeans! I looked high and low for a pair and was willing to pay any price. I found these at Gap on sale, and let me tell you! So comfortable, AND I don't have to worry about my butt crack hanging out! I've had this poncho from Forever 21 for awhile now, but have been using it mainly as a blanket to keep me warm. I had no idea how to style it until now! I have so many pieces of my wardrobe like that. I buy them on a whim because I like them, but then find myself clueless on how to style them for everyday life. Eventually though, it all works out.

Since my hat evoked in me a feeling of Edmund Dantes from Dumas' novel The Count of Monte Cristo, I google searched some quotes and found this one, which I think appropriately defines a stormy day like today.

"Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine!"

  5. High waist skinnies are the only kind of jeans I feel comfortable in. I thinks this comes with being tall and having small hips. Gap jeans never do it for me, though. They definitely "do it" for you, though!

  9. Very cool, you got it right with the COunt of Monte Cristo.
The weather looks very cold and miserable (when I see miserable, I mean it in the best way possible - because I love that kind of weather) but I suppose it goes with the whole 'Rosemud' thing!
    Very nice!
