The Outer Banks, part I

Goodness me! How has everybody been?! I just got back from North Carolina after a week of sun soaked, water logged relaxation with Ethan and his family. They were so kind to invite me along to a gorgeous beach house they had rented in Avon, NC in the Outer Banks. Ethan's family makes the torturous and I mean torturous 12 hr drive to the island to windsurf and hang out with relatives from the area every year or two. The beach house was located right off a wildlife preserve which shielded us from the built-upiness of the island, which is chock full of vacation homes. It was right on the water ( the sound side) and provided ample water to learn how to windsurf! This place was pure serenity, the views were spectacular, I got some reading in( Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) plus this much needed vacay time gave me the perfect opportunity to wear my new sunhat off the clearance racks at Target.

View from one of the 6 decks. Also, view of my butt.Don't deny it, you like it.

The chevron stripe in this vintage bathing suit is my fave! Except when I got knocked over by a giant wave, was dragged alont the shoreline which basically filled the panty lining with sand. It felt like a beanie baby in my crotch area. TMI, I know sorry.

A little deer in the headlightsy in regards to me in this photo, but its a damn kickass tree.

The second I saw this tree, I knew I was going to be taking pictures with me in it...easier said than done.
Well It's great to be back, I feel like I have so much to catch up on in regards to the blogging world. Cannot wait to see what you all have been up to!

  3. Yeah, I'm so glad you're back. I love your photos and the beanie baby comment made me almost spit out my cereal. Too funny.

You so rock that tree. I tried to climb one like that for a post and just ended up cutting up my palms and almost falling.

  4. I so know what you mean about amazing trees. There are a few trees like that in this courtyard at my university and I am always so tempted to climb up one on my breaks between classes :)

  7. I love the look of a one piece. In practice, my torso is too long and it's a bitch to find one that fits correctly. Guess I'll be living vicariously through your one piece bathing suit adventures!

  9. your bathing suit is lovely.
i had an unfortunate experience with a wave a few years back.
however, in my case, the problem was not sand.
but rather the fact that my top and bottoms were both pulled off.
thankfully no one saw but my little sister.
