BIRTHDAY

I've been dreading my birthday for months now. I could not help but think that I should have more figured out at the age of Twenty-five, but so far, I have had the best weekend that I have had in a very long time. On my actual birthday I treated myself to a new haircut and manicure and enjoyed the day to myself in Portsmouth where I bought a few things including the corduroy jacket that I'm wearing in these photos. In the evening, Jeramy got me a fig and blue cheese pizza that I need to figure out how to make, since it is so yummy.

The following night, Jeramy and I went down to Montague, MA to visit the Bookmill again and to check out a show that was playing there. Sadly, the Bookmill was closed for the night, which meant no looking at amazing old books. Instead, we went down by the river and took these photos. After downing a few Session Black Ales and a Ham, Gruyere cheese, and apple sandwich at the adjoining cafe, we went upstairs and took our seats to watch Cokeweed and Micah Blue Smaldone play amongst musty books with the sounds of rushing rivers mingling with the sounds of guitars, tambourines, and drums.

I've seen Cokeweed play before at last year's Thing in the Spring (and shall be seeing them again at this year's!) and again was not disappointed. Micah played second and was backed by Cokeweed. Jeramy introduced me to Micah's music a while back and I cannot get enough of his beautiful lyrics and folky acoustic sound, just him and a guitar. This time around he played and electric set, which is quite different than his norm and believe me was it incredible. Both from Maine, if you happen to see these guys touring, you are in for quite the treat! Here's to a great 25!

    1. Thanks! The older I get the more I realize that I'll never have it entirely put together. And you're entirely correct when you say where is the fun in that!?

  2. I really like these pictures by the river, so pretty :) Happy 25th, mine ended up in some bar where in Montreal, I got really drunk and I don't remember the rest, haha, anyways, I turn 31 in a few weeks and I don't drink anymore, weird how aging changes you. I feel like this year for me will be very quiet with my man and our cat and maybe some tasty treats ;)

    Bonne Anniversaire!

    a+

    1. Thanks, Izzy. I'm pretty tame now too, alcohol has actually started to upset my stomach. I'm all about staying in with my man too!

  3. Sounds like it was a wonderful birthday. I've actually really liked getting older so far. I feel more comfortable with myself and don't worry about all the little dramas of my youth. You look super fabulous anyway!

    1. Well, Happy Belated Birthday to you! I'm slowly coming around to the idea that getting old isn't such a bad thing. Hopefully, you'll get there someday too.

  6. happy birthday miss! there is no age limit on when to figure it all out. what i wanted when i was 25 is totally different than what i want now and i'm almost 28 - - age is part of the natural progression!

    p.s. now im craving pizza!

  7. Oh gosh, isn't 25 weird? I didn't do anything for mine either, and being that age feels strange. I feel like I should have so much figured out, that I should be on some sort of path to doing what it is I'm trying to do.

Happiest of birthdays dear! This looks like the best place, all that greenery!

    1. Thanks Kater. Agreed, 25 is odd, but so far I'm enjoying it for what it is and looking at it as a way to make some positive changes in my life. I feel like 25 is the official "adult age" so I really should try and act a little bit more like one!
