PICNIC IN CENTRAL PARK

I think picnics are one of the best things in life and to be able to have one with the most stylish, intelligent, hilarious, and unique girls I know on the internet was incredible and in Central Park nonetheless! Hosted by Siri of Ringo Have a Banana and Cloth App, we got our Kinfolk on, eating assorted cheeses, crackers, fruits, and other charcuteries all afternoon. Let me tell you, we were fancy. It was a lovely time to chat and get to know, in real life, the girls I stalk on a daily basis.

BEHIND THE SCENES: ELMWOOD

(first photo by Amy Merrick on Instagram of Alice, Francesca, herself and I)

To think that I would only do a single post on Elmwood would seem preposterous. Therefore I bombard you with a few behind the scenes shots from my iPhone. I hope you enjoy them as I certainly enjoyed my time after the class hanging out with Amy, Francesca, Alice, and Parker (and Muffy, Westley, and Chewpee) goofing off drinking champagne with St. Germaine and dancing around to Paul Simon.

Sunflower titties on such a lovely girl. This was shortly after Francesca shared with me the dance that her parents do to Paul Simon's You Can Call me Al.

Amy is a real life floral sorceress. Is anybody else in awe of her floral arranging abilities? Pure Magic.

Chewpee is my favorite beagle of all. Amy shared with us that his name is derived from the fact that he used to 'chew' on everything and 'pee' everywhere.ELMWOOD IPHONE
Little Westley rubbed his head in the plants and got a pollen mohawk. Combined with Frankie's angel hair, this photo is almost too hair perfect.

ELMWOOD

As the summer comes to a glorious end, I have one more special post to share of my disposable camera series, as I just got my last roll of film back. As a long time follower of Amy Merrick's blog, I happened across one day that she was going to be holding a flower arranging class at her family's vacation home, Elmwood, which is coincidentally no more than a half hour down the road in Hancock, New Hampshire. I immediately knew that this was a class that I wanted to take as I had been under Amy's floral spell for quite some time and she bewitched me into wanting to learn how to abracadabra a bouquet myself. I could not have had more of a great time in the company of everybody that I met,the beautiful flowers that I got to touch and possess, not to mention our hostess' hospitality and the charm of the Elmwood Estate. I could not get over the way my hands smelled after cutting flowers for my arrangements. If I could have bottled up that scent I would have. I think I would have bottled up everything and taken it home with me because it was such a lovely time and I could not be more grateful that I had the opportunity to spend my afternoon at Elmwood. This last photo of me was taken for me by Parker Fitzgerald who was there documenting the event. He captured perfectly how happy this day made me.

FARMSTAND

On the recommendation by no other than Ms. Amy Merrick herself, I was instructed that I must visit a farm stand not only less than 5 miles down the road to go to a place that I had driven past a million times, but never stopped, to only THE MOST INCREDIBLE ,HEAVEN ON EARTH PLACE called Rosaly's where I can pick all the flowers that I want! Needless to say, I've made it a must to go every weekend in order to make a bouquet and buy fresh fruits and veggies for my other new obsession; JUICING! If you follow me on instagram, you may already know my excitement on these two new crazes.

WINNEPAUSAKEE

It was a much needed getaway a month or so ago, when my Mother, noticing the rut I was stuck in, impulsively forced me to go to the Lakes Region with her for the weekend. In my usual fashion, I dragged my heels and whined that I did not feel like it. It ended up being a time that I really enjoyed with my mother and was grateful that I got to relax and have a good time spending time with her. She took these photos for me on my disposable camera (number 4 for the summer, we're on the last roll!) while relaxing lakeside.

THE WHEEL OF THINGS

I recently read the biography of Lucy Maud Montgomery, the noted authoress of one of my all time favorite books, Anne of Green Gables. Reading about her life, made me understand how much of herself she put into all of her heroines and reminded me of how much I can relate to her and her characters. It also made me eager to re-read some of her other works that I had read a long time ago and had forgotten about, Kilmeny of the Orchard and the Blue Castle. My simple outfit was inspired by Victorian Picnics. The seersucker dress from American Apparel is the best dress to flounce around in and my thrifted basket purse is quickly becoming a great summer alternative to my Fieldguided tote. The disposable camera summer series continues with this set of photos taken by my Sister Katy. garden partygarden partygarden party

HAMPTON BEACH

New Hampshire is lucky enough to have a shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean. It is very small however, and we've managed to make it a very tacky place over the years. Seedy motels line the main strip, along with a ramshackle arcade. But tacky can be fun. I went a few weeks ago with my sister Sarah and some friends cracked a few beers and hung out on the beach. The water, as usual, was absolutely frigid, so the day consisted of running into the water, running back out teeth chattering and legs numb, only come back and fry on my towel. I should not say fry however, as I wore sunscreen that made my skin glow. UV protection, you guys! Here are a few of the disposable snaps from the day.

CANOBIE LAKE PARK

Summer thus far has been quite fantastic,I've ditched my DSLR (temporarily) for a disposable camera and have been documenting my adventures on film. The majority of the photos have been coming out fairly terrible, but there have been some gems that I'll be sharing here over the next few weeks. Although the camera is disposable, the memories sure are not! These photos were taken on a recent trip to one of my favorite New Hampshire destinations, Canobie Lake Park. I've been coming here ever since I was a little kid and it certainly has not changed much in the years that I have been visiting, nay probably not much has changed over the past 50 years plus that Canobie has been operating.I have so much nostalgia tied in with this place that I'm sure my soul is entwined with Canobie by now. I love visiting around dusk to see the sunset over the lake that the park was named after and to watch the park light up with blinking lights. One of my favorite activities is riding the old rickety wooden roller coaster, The Yankee Cannonball, and looking up at the starry night sky before being plummeted back towards the earth. It truly is an exhilarating place and I will always hold a dear spot in my heart for Canobie Lake Park. GREEN MT. STATE

These are some disposable camera film shots we took a few weekends ago when we visited Burlington, Vermont to see Feist play at the Flynn Theatre. The show, as expected was incredible and the entire audience was actually invited on stage to have a dance party for the encore. I've never "rushed" a stage before, but the band was really inviting and nice and we just rocked out to a upbeat version of Limit to your Love. A surreal experience, to say the least.
The rest of the weekend was spent walking around the downtown area, going to a farmers market and strolling down by Lake Champlain. I ended up getting rather ill midway through the weekend, initially believing it was allergies, but quickly realizing a nasty cold was forming, so we took it pretty easy. Minus the sinus cold part, I think I officially fell in love with Vermont that weekend.

CLEANING UP SHOP

So admittedly my life in general has fallen to the wayside and so has my blogging. I would get all motivated to get outside and take photos to share of outfits I really enjoyed putting together, I'd even go as far to take the photos and upload them to my computer. For one reason or another I'd end up deciding that I did not want to share them after all. In the spirit of purging and new beginnings, I thought I would post them all at once. Some of these go way back to last year!

Also, from looking at this pictures I realized I need to perk up! I look so miserable.
