I adore reading in the summertime.I love to go outside and sit in a field somewhere underneath the shade of a big oak and just read on a blanket. Seriously there is nothing better. This year, I've decided to make a list of books that I want to read. some of them I've never read and some I've read in High School and want to re-read them. I'm going to share that list with you guys and would also love some recommendations!! At the end of the summer, we'll see what I got through!

  5. Since Mr. Salinger's passing, I've been thinking of rereading some of his works again. This is a very cool reading list. You look very elegant in your long sundress and straw hat. those sandals are a wal-mart score. I love how you are a gifted thrifter. It makes it so easy to identify with you.

  22. fantastic list! i never read outside even though in this country i should try and get as much sun as i can - i'm cooped up indoors in bed reading!

i'm ashamed to say i only got halfway through Anna Karenina and gave up, that was three years ago. I've also started The Scarlet Letter and Tess Of The D'Urbervilles and not finished! I've been told that Hardy is an acquired taste.

Great outfit! I usually kip our in my slobby PJs :P

  25. you just named a TON of my absolute favorite novels of all time - no joke..

if you haven't read "a clockwork orange" yet, i suggest getting the translation glossary as a reference point so that you don't get bogged down in the sometimes complex usage of futuristic yiddish and cockney rhyme-slang. that book changed my life.

others you mentioned that are dear favorites are slaughterhouse-five, the scarlet letter and of course the stranger - camus is BRILLIANT! i remember reading these novels in high school and falling in love with them...

you'll have a great time lounging around reading these classics! fabulous list :)

  27. Ah, I have some of the same books on my summer reading list! Though, I must say, The Scarlet Letter is probably the worst book I've ever read, but I would recommend the one I've just finished, Transgression by James Nichol. Honestly, one of the best books I've read in a long time!

  28. I haven't read all of these, but Anna Karenina was pretty awesome, Atlas Shrugged literally BLEW MY MIND, not that I didn't take it with a grain of salt, and Slaughterhouse-9 was pretty much amazing too. It kinda blew my mind also, but I had to read it twice to comprehend all of it's amazingness. Atlas Shrugged kind of shoves that amazingness down your throat so there is no way you can miss it ;)
