Attic Pin-up Girl

I had a lot of fun with this shoot. I found this top at the Salvation Army and fell in love with the watercolor, Monet-like print and could not resist buying it. The only problem, it bares my belly. Now let me explain, I am a very modest person and almost did not post these pictures as I feel they are a little out of character for me. A little too sexy. But in the end I really do like these pictures, even if I'm a bit of a fish out of water.

OMG Shoes.

I am seriously lusting over these Camper shoes. They are so simple and understated. I'm almost positive that those are the most perfect oxfords ever too. I would wear these puppies with everything!

Very, very,very fine house.

With setting up our new apartment, I have begun to hoard pictures of spaces which I love. Here are some of them:

Who needs stainless steel appliances and granite countertops when you can have this mint condition retro 60's kitchen?!

I want my office to look like this. Steve Martin album included.

Paint by numbers never looked so cool.

So simple, but I just love the colors here. Very bright and fresh.

Lyell's spring collection in a room which I would be totally glad to sit on the floor.

I just adore this song, always have always will.

Let's hear it for the boys

I'm for whatever reason really into men's fashion right now and have been really digging a lot of looks that I've seen on street wear style sites and personal blogs. Here are a few which I just think are awesome.

Links (from L to R):Copenhagen Street Style, Vanessa Jackman, Mr. Newton, Jay from J&L(You should really check this one out, Jay and his sartorial soul mate Elle are getting married and have a really cute style blog), and last but not least Rhiannon from Liebemarlene Vintage's man Drew looking like a BAMF on a train for his birthday.

Wish I was there.

Starr from A Thought is the Blossom had the wonderful idea of doing a few posts on Coachella festival style and talked about what she is excited to wear to Bonnaroo. Being from the Northeast(somebody correct me if I'm wrong), we totally lack cool laid-back festivals with amazing bands, so I decided to go ahead and dress as if I were going to Coachella.

So take that, I do what I want! Stupid New England, we only have Tanglewood which are festivals for old people(well I would go to the James Taylor concert, but its sold out and my Mom likes him so it counts as an old people concert). Okay I've ranted enough here is what I would wear and did wear yesterday, but not to a festival...

What's it all about, Rosie?

Yep, I'm bringing back the buns! I feel as though I have time traveled back to 8th grade with these little knobs on the top of my head and frankly I love them!

Outfit details: Vintage Lanz Jersey Dress...Thrift, Belt...thrift, Vans...Journeys, Sunglasses... Forever 21, Margaret Smith Purse...Antique Mall

AND Check out my most recent find... this beautiful Margaret Smith of Gardiner,Maine Purse. Back in NYC Betsy and I had found such an adorable vintage store, but everything was priced over $100 dollars. I had my eye on this same purse, only with a different fabric, which cost a mere $125! On a antiquing adventure this weekend, I found myself at an antique mall loaded with junk and could not believe my eyes when I looked up and saw this beauty! What luck and I snagged it at a mere fraction of what they were priced at the vintage store!

So,
I just finished watching the Michael Caine Version of Alfie and my goodness is that man dreamy or what. Even with his womanizing ways in this movie, I cannot help but fall for his British charm. The girls who do fall victim to his Casanova like attitude are equally fantastic as I find myself wanting their bouffants and cat eye-makeup.

This bottom one isn't from the movie , but dear god! Do I want to super impose my head on that woman's body or what?!

To a deluxe apartment in the sky.

Hi, hi! First post from the apartment, with a new camera (very early birthday present from Ethan) and the movers are coming today to bring the rest of the furniture which has been in storage. Things are starting to change very quickly, my seasonal job as a receptionist for a tax firm ended on April 15th and I am now seeking employment. I thinking that in between jobs, I am going to work on getting my blog visually where I want it and even maybe finally starting up my own Etsy Shop. I see so many opportunities in my future, it is quite overwhelming, but I finally have some sense of what direction I want my life to be going in and I'm very content.

Outfit Details: Felt Hat...Target, Blouse...Thrifted, Skinny Jeans...American Eagle Outfitters, Granny Boots...Thrifted, Canary Yellow Jewel Ring & String of pearls...from the Ethan's Grammy's costume jewelry stash (thanks to Sue!)

Okay, enough blogging and back to unpacking! I need to get those picture frames off the floor!

Yankee Doodle Dandee

Tomorrow is Patriot's Day so I figured I would get a head start on wearing some red, white, and blue. It is such a great color combo and so perfect for spring into summer. I had more shots taken of me, but I looked utterly angry in them for some reason (I was in a good mood), I decided to only include these two.

I also wanted to apologize for being absent for a few days, I've been hanging out with Ethan's sister Betsy and his lovely cousin Ellie, who is up visiting from North Carolina. She is the lady behind the design blog mint, which as I have mentioned previously is a site you all must check out! Yesterday we went antiquing to buy things for Ellie's etsy shop West & Plum and my word, did we found a lot of goodies! Keep checking out her blog for some updates, you will not be sorry!

I've also been getting the new apartment squared away as much as possible, we're still waiting on practically all of our furniture. It's coming on Monday so it will finally be nice to sit and lounge around.

Stroll in Central Park

During my stay in NYC, I got to see Central Park for the first time. I have been to NYC before, but had not experienced the loveliness that is Central Park. Lucky for me, it was such a beautiful day and everything was in full bloom. Here are a bunch of pictures I took which I wanted to share!

The lights are much brighter there

WOW. I miss blogging and all you fabulous people! Well it has been a hectic week with no signs of slowing down, but let me tell you, did I have a FABULOUS time in NYC! My real motives for going unfortunately need to be kept under wraps still , but I promise when the time comes, I will share it all with you. Regardless, I had lots of other fun adventures to share, which will probably take a few posts to do so.

My impromptu visit allowed me to hang out with Ethan's sister Betsy, an amazing actress who lives in Hell's Kitchen and has the comfiest bed ever. She was ever so gracious as to let me crash in it for a few days. She took me to East Village where we checked out Fabulous Fanny's, a vintage eye wear store with drawers and drawers of beautiful specs! I got the most amazing pair of Italian Folding Sunglasses. They fold up all neat and compact and are basically the most awesome things ever. I'm wearing them in the picture below which was taken outside of St. Mark's church after a pigeon ever so nicely pooped on my head. Thanks to Betsy for cleaning it out of my hair. Its good luck they say. We shall see...

We also hit up a Mud Truck, which is basically a travelling coffee truck of deliciousness. I also was quite fond of the name, I only could imagine why...

Orpheus Melted the Heart of Persephone

Hey Pretties, I just want to let you know that this is going to have be my last post for at least a week or two. This weekend I have to make an impromptu visit to NYC for some exciting top secret stuff, which hopefully I'll get to share with you guys at some point. This weekend, also marks the beginning of our move into our new apartment!! Lots of exciting stuff going on here, so I need to take a break to get myself organized.

Well this shoot was interesting to say the least, it began when my swan friends decided to get a little frisky right in front of me...

This is my new cherry ring. It is awesome.

Do not be fooled thinking this pose was planned, there were swarms of black flies attacking me! I was just swatting them away!

Day in the Park

What a glorious day it has been! I got to do one of my favorite nice weather activities, lounging around in a park, soaking up the rays, reading a good book, listening to some good tunes on my ipod, and drinking iced coffee. I couldn't have asked for a better day to hang out and relax in the sun, which has been eluding us for the past week and a half.
Ethan's mom just got back from Spain bearing amazing goodies like a book of poetry by Federico Garcia Lorca! I got to reading some today and it made me miss my Spain days. At least I can reminisce with Ethan's mom now!

Some women marry houses.

I feel like a 70's swedish/housewife/feminist in this outfit and I love it!Ever since Alexa Chung's collection for Madewell, I have been on the hunt for an overall dress. This overall dress of Oshkosh B'gosh is a little longer than Alexa's but I like this length better, and boy is it comfy!... And now for the debut of the best clogs ever! I was minding my own business in the salvation army when out of the corner of my eye I saw these beauties for a mere $5. I scooped them up and held them so close to my chest that all the old ladies shopping there on Senior Day must have thought I was crazy holding these wooden clunkers like they were my first born child. What they don't understand is that I have been oogling Hasbeens for the longest time and absolutely refuse to spend over $50 for a shoe. Therefore I am probably going to wear these everyday and probably in every post. Get ready!

p.s. do not try to google image "seventies housewife" or else you will get a lot of porn...???

Also love that I can find an Anne Sexton Poem to relate to how I'm feeling on a particular day.

"Some women marry houses.
It's another kind of skin; it has a heart,
a mouth, a liver and bowel movements.
The walls are permanent and pink.
See how she sits on her knees all day,
faithfully washing herself down.
Men enter by force, drawn back like Jonah
into their fleshy mothers.
A woman is her mother.
That's the main thing."
-Anne Sexton, Housewife
