This is a version of the outfit I wore to a show out in Jaffrey, NH this past Saturday. It was in the Mindful Bookshop on Main Street, a place I am going to have to take an afternoon off and sift through all of the amazing old books and ephemera that is stuffed to the brim there. We were there to see a friend's band, Redwing Blackbird play. I  had yet to see them play live, and was not disappointed. They're folky-esque, but with an edge, I guess. If you have not noticed, I truly suck at this music critiquing thing,  so you should probably check out Jeramy's blog if you're looking for a good critique of music you've never heard of. He is a million times better at talking about music and does so in great detail. Seriously, he talked to me about a tube amp he is going to buy for at least twenty minutes last night. I love that man. I should probably stick to talking about clothes though... Anyway, the other band that played, Arborea, a husband and wife duo from Lewiston, Maine freaking rocked my socks off. I pretty much immediately fell in love with their sound. Super talented and gifted people. So glad I snagged their vinyl. Have a listen below.

Simple Life

Its been absolutely beautiful outside except for the freezing cold. I ended up taking photos inside because I couldn't bear to run to and fro from my tripod to take photos. Luckily enough, Jeramy has so graciously offered to help out photographing me. How sweet is he? We're heading to Portsmouth, NH this weekend to finish up some Christmas shopping, so hopefully we can squeeze in a little photo shoot!

Black Swans on a Lonesome Lake

I ventured out the other night to go see a show in a bookstore and was glad I did! Not only did I hear some amazing local music, I ended up making some friends too. Great times were had by all and if you're ever in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire I highly recommend you look up the bands Lonesome Lake and Songstress Christine Hayward. Just fabulous! Yay for getting out of the house and being adventurous!

In the Sun

Remember this post? That is exactly where the inspiration from this outfit came from. I adore this coral color and found the best camel highwaisted trousers ever. It rained for three days straight, I literally thought the Northeast was going to disappear into the Atlantic ocean. Finally the sun decided to make an appearance so that I could hop outside and take some photos by the pond(which I consider large enough to be a lake, but whatever, what do I know?).

How pale do my ankles look!?! Freaky stuff!

Grrr I want my hair to be longer so I can do a proper side braid!

ALSO Excitingness for you She & Him fans... listen to the ENTIRE album here. Its pretty fantastic, but really could I expect anything less from the adorable Zooey?

Merry Mix-mas!

So for Christmas, especially when I'm broke, I like to make mixes for my sisters to put under the tree. So here's my gift to you all (yes I'm broke again this year. thanks student loans)...

Here's a mix of songs i have been listening to over and over this holiday season:

1.Walking in a Winter Wonderland, Jason Mraz
His take on this classic is a fun and upbeat acoustic version that makes me feel like I'm on vacation somewhere warmer than nh.

2.Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, N'sync
Ahhh this song brings me back to my teeny-bopper days.

3.All That I Want, The Weepies
This song became popular because of a commercial a few years back and introduced me to The Weepies, a band which has since become one of my faves.

4. White Christmas, Bing Crosby
Classic, Classic, Classic. Especially when New England is lacking in the snow department around the holiday season (Which isn't often unfortunately), I can't help but sing along to this song!

5.The Way I am, Ingrid Michaelson
Again, another song featured in a commercial(Old Navy I think). Not exactly a holiday song, but for some reason reminds me of the season. Makes me want to snuggle with the BF next to a fire wearing cozy sweaters.
6.The Christmas Song, Nat King Cole
Probably one of my all time faves. Its a pretty magical song.

And if you need a fantastic x-mas movie to get you in the spirit go watch The Muppet Christmas Carol

God, I love the Muppets! I'm not going to lie, but sometimes when I think about it too much they really freak me out. Something about inanimate objects being brought to life by an unknown personage. The Muppets then bring it to a whole new level when they throw them into real life scenarios interacting with humans. Seriously though, if Gonzo walked up to me in the street and started a conversation with me, I'd run in the other direction screaming!!
AHHHHH!
Merry Christmas to you and your families!
